There are 3 events that occur prior to the rapture that everyone, believers and no- believers, will see.
- There will be signs in the sun. The result will be the darkening of the Sun
- The moon will not give its light.
- The power of the heavens will be shaken. The stars will be moved from their current place.
These three will not be missed by anyone.
4. The sign of the son of man. This sign is recognized only by believers as a precursor to the return of the the son of man.
5. The return of the son of may just as he left. In the clouds. Everyone, believers and non-believers, sees this event
Other events are entwined within these five events however as a believer you can be confident not to be caught off guard. It does not occur as a thief in the night for you.
Read the following scriptures with this understanding. You should begin to understand the timelines Jesus laid out for the last generation. When we see these events look up. Your redemption is here.
It will be easier to understand the relevance of these scriptures once you have carefully studies the foundations. The two judgements and two resurrections are initiated by the rapture. Also the event of the rapture is not a quick event. The change of the body for the believer is instant. That is just part of the rapture event. From start to finish the rapture event will last 47 days.
The Rapture is not a word found in the Bible, Old or New Testament. It describes a pending event that is a part of the foundations called Resurrection from the dead. Since the dead in Christ will also go into the rapture event, the rapture is included in the resurrection however for those who die after the rapture and those who are not taken in the rapture, there is a final resurrection when all the dead are raised.
The following are scriptures that refer to the rapture. Reading this should inspire you to study the section in Foundations called the Resurrection of the dead.
Rapture: Part of the First Resurrection
The 3 events we will see first!
And there shall be signs in the (1) sun, and in the (2)moon, and in the (3) stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and waves roaring; Men's hearts failing them for fear, and looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken. And then shall they see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift your heads; for your redemption draws near.
Until we see all three events, Jesus is not returning. It does not matter what you see going on in Jerusalem. It maters what you see happening in the sun, moon, and heavens. When Jesus is describing those 3 events the very next sentence describes the effect on nations the earth and people.
1. With our dependence on electricity and communication's today can you imagine what's going to happen when we have problems in the sun. Even sunspots affect our communications. This will cause great distress.
2. Men's hearts failing them for fear of what they see coming upon the earth. If the heavenly bodies are shaken and things appear to be coming at the earth then yes people will die of heart attacks
3. The moon creates a great pull on the worlds oceans. If something happens to the moon, we should see the oceans reacting. They respond every day now. It's called the tide.
During this tome Jerusalem will be destroyed.
When you see Jerusalem being surrounded by armies, you will know that its desolation is near.
After those three, this is what we see next!
Then there will appear the sign (NOT HIM) of the son of Man in Heaven. And then all the peoples of the earth will mourn when they see the son of man coming on the clouds of heaven, with great power and great glory
1. Signs in the sun, moon and stars with heavenly bodies shaken.
2. The sign of the son of man in the Heavens. We do not know what the sign is however it is not Jesus Himself.
3. The appearing of the son of man. This causes great mourning among the Nations. Do They realize their fate is sealed?
4. His angels begin to gather the elect.
This is why Jesus said that when deceivers are saying here he is or over there, do not listen to then. In the mean time the nations are mourning. This event is not minutes or seconds.
Jesus said this would be like two other events, the days of Noah and His ascending to the Father after his resurrection.
There was nothing instant about either episode. The thought that this will be a sudden event that leaves people wondering is not scriptural.
Look at the parallels
God took Noah into the Ark for 7 days while the animals were being gathered.
7 days after Jesus was resurrected He appeared to the disciples.
After the 7th day God closed the Ark door and the rain began. It rained for 40 days.
After appearing to the disciples, Jesus was with them 40 days.
Genesis 7:10 (God had told Noah to enter the ark) And after seven days the floodwaters came upon the earth. And rain fell on the earth forty days and forty nights.
John 20:26 states that seven days after Jesus came out of the tomb and appeared to Thomas He appeared again to the disciples.
John 21:14 references the second and third time He appeared to the disciples. This was past the seven days.
Acts 1:3 He(Jesus) appeared to them(as a group) over forty days and spoke about the Kingdom of God.1:9 After this, he was taken up before their very eyes, and a cloud hid him from their sight. Acts1:11 Men of Galilee,” they said, “why do you stand here looking into the sky? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven.”
So that is seven days, a few people could see Him but not touch Him. And then forty more days spent with the disciples..
Same time frame in the days of Noah and the rapturing up of Jesus.
Even the parable of the ten virgins indicates that there is time between the signs in the heavens, the sign of his coming, Him coming on the clouds, Him getting onto the earth and Him taking people away. Mathew 25:1-13 This notion that this entire event is in an instance is not scriptural. The twinkling of an eye is in reference to the amount of time it will take for the Lord to change our mortal bodies into the immortal.
Where are you as a believer until this happens?
2 Corinthians 5:8
We are confident I say and would prefer to be away from the body and at home with the Lord
My Father’s House has many rooms; if it were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you.
So, dying takes you from your body. We are present with Him (Jesus). He is with the Father in Heaven. So, we are there too waiting for our physical bodies to be resurrected.
What will His appearing look like?
Acts 1:9 After he said this, he was taken up before their very eyes, and a cloud hid him from their sight. They were looking intently up into the sky as he was going, when suddenly two men dressed in white stood beside them. Men of Galilee,” they said, “why do you stand here looking into the sky? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven.”
They (the men in white) described how Jesus would return. They did not say that the disciples would see this happen.
The resurrection reunites us with Christ the Bridegroom.
For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we will certainly also be united with him in a resurrection like his.
Like Him Imperishable walking through walls (Luke 24:36) Not restricted by physical laws. He also ate with them. (Luke24:43) His disciples recognized Him and understood their relationship to him.
What is the Resurrected body like?
1 Corinthians 15:42 So will it be with the resurrection of the dead. The body that is sown is perishable, it is raised imperishable; it is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory; it is sown in weakness, it is raised in power; it is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body.
1 Corinthians 15:52
in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed.
Paul is referring to himself and expecting Himself to be changed into the resurrected believer.
Do all believers participate in the 1st resurrection?
At that time, the Kingdom of Heaven will be like ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. Five of them were foolish and five of them were wise. The foolish ones took their lamps but did not take any oil with them. The wise ones, however took oil in jars along with their lamps. The bridegroom was a long time in coming. And all became drowsy and fell asleep. At midnight, the cry rang out: Here's the Bridegroom! Come out to meet him! Then all the virgins woke up and trimmed their lamps. The foolish ones said to the wise, 'Give us some of your oil; our lamps are going out.' “'No, they replied, ‘there may not be enough for both us and you. Instead go to those who sell oil and buy some for yourselves.' But while they were on their way to buy oil, the bridegroom arrived. The virgins who were ready went in with him to the wedding banquet. And the door was shut. Later the others also came. Lord Lord they said open the door for us! But he replied Truly I tell you I don't know you. Therefore, keep watch, because you do not know the day or the hour.
This indicates that not everyone who believes and calls Jesus lord will make the first resurrection. The wise stay prepared and do not allow the foolish to rob them. The wise were not satisfied with just enough. Jesus did not say I never knew you, He said I do not know you. In other words, he was saying He was not acquainted with them. For the foolish, they will go in the second resurrection. And miss the 1000-year reign. They did not value the price paid for their sin and now will face a judgment of death.
Everyone eventually does get Resurrected
See the Resurrection of the dead in the foundations series.
Just some thoughts on the subject. NOT DOCTRINE
The seven days Noah was in the ark would have been a time of retrospect for the people who were aware of the impending event. Then the door is closed. Then forty days of rain. The Ark lifts off the ground for at least 150 days. Once back on the ground, Noah waited forty days to open a window. He then sent out a raven. Then he sent a dove that returned. then seven days later sent the dove again. When the dove returned it had an olive leaf. He waited seven more days and sent another dove. When it did not return He knew the earth was dry. As a promise of never flooding the earth again, God placed a sign in the sky (rainbow).
With Jesus's return, there is a sign in the heavens. Then when they see Him (Jesus) they mourn. Is this the same time period that the foolish virgins wasted looking for oil only to return to find the door closed. Do the nations see the sign then hesitate. Followed by the coming of Jesus on the clouds is like the closing of the Ark. These two events are too similar to discount what is in common to them. Smarter people may be able to figure this out but at least we know the movies about the people suddenly disappearing off planes and clothing being found neatly folded on the seats are clearly not scriptural.
Why does seven then forty get repeated in both events? We shall soon see!
This is the biblical timeline of the Jewish Nation going into the Great White throne judgement.
- The Jews rejected the Messiah sent to them.
- The Jews killed the Messiah
- Their destruction is predicted.
- The temple is destroyed and Jews scattered throughout the world
- The nation of Israel is restored from throughout the world.
- They restore the temple and begin daily sacrifices
- The man of lawlessness appears.
The White Horse of conquest seal number one,
The red horse removes peace seal number two,
The Black horse of hyper inflation seal number three,
The Pale horse of death through famine plague and wild beasts, seal number four,
Seal number five the remainder of those slain for the gospel has come in,
Seal number six great earthquake. The sun turned to sackcloth the moon to blood, stars fall from heaven.
Ships from the western coast lands (possibly US and Canada?) oppose him. Out of fear he returns and shows favor to those who forsake the holy covenant. Ezekiel 37:26 God creates a covenant of peace. Israel forsakes god altogether.
- 1290 days the Abomination of desolation is set up
- Those in Judea warned to flee to the mountains
- told to pray this will not happen in winter.
- Blessings for those who make it to 1335 days or 45 days past the 1290th day. (remember Noah 47 days total)
- False prophets and false messiahs appear during this time.
- While this is going on the sun will be darkened the moon not give it's light;stars will fall from the sky and heavenly bodies will be shaken. This description is found in Mark 13:23 Joel 3:15 Joel 2:31 Acts 2:20 Mathew 24:29 Luke 21:25 Revelations 6:12-13
- Rapture just after The signs in sun moon and heavens.
Somewhere between the daily sacrifices being made and the 1335 day will be occurring. Immediately after this we will see the sign of the son of man. Only believers will recognize this however the rest of the world will recognize the son of man coming in clouds with great power and glory. The son of man coming is a separate event from the sign of his coming.
In all of this, the Nation of Israel appears to be in Chaos. Anarchy plays a huge role in their future with 144,000 getting saved. They are a stubborn people. Reinhard Bonnke has had more get saved at one evangelical event in Africa than 144,000.
